MFM contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Mission Foundation Movement (MFM) is dedicated to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through various initiatives.
Organic Farming: In 2022, 150 individuals were selected to participate in an organic farming project, funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and the Social Welfare and Tribal Affairs, Government of Mizoram. This initiative aims to promote self-sufficiency in agricultural production and ensure a continuous supply of vegetables through environmentally friendly and sustainable practices.
Support for Entrepreneurship in Rural Areas: To address the widespread deforestation caused by traditional jhum cultivation, MFM has been actively supporting and promoting small-scale rural entrepreneurs. Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SVEP) and the Start-up Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SEDP) in Kolasib and Mamit districts have helped foster new entrepreneurs and support existing small businesses. The goal is to reduce the practice of jhum cultivation by encouraging more sustainable and eco-friendly livelihood options.
Planting Trees in Schools: MFM has partnered with over 500 schools in and around Aizawl to plant fruit trees on school grounds. This initiative aims to create green spaces and urban orchards, improve air quality, and provide wildlife habitats. As these trees mature and bear fruit, they will offer long-term educational, environmental, and nutritional benefits, leaving a lasting legacy for current and future generations of students.
