Many villages in Mizoram do not have basic healthcare facilities, which creates a dire need for healthcare workers, including nurses and doctors, in rural areas. Recognizing this need, MFM opened a Health Clinic in Khamrang Village in 2012 with approval from the Health Department, Government of Mizoram. This clinic serves a population of 3,086 people in five villages near Khamrang Village.
The clinic is a 10-bed hospital with one delivery bed. Our involvement with the community includes conducting health awareness programs, providing health services, offering health education, and raising awareness about environmental and sanitation issues in the villages. The clinic works to improve the health of mothers and their children, as well as overall community health and sanitation.
In 2015, a new building was funded by the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi, and it was inaugurated by Mr. Akio Isomata, the Economic Minister at the Embassy of Japan, and the Chief Minister of Mizoram on April 4, 2016. The maintenance of the clinic is funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
