Covid-19 Vaccination
MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity project was funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and was awarded to John Snow Inc (JSI) in 2020.
To ramp up COVID-19 vaccination with the objective to increase demand, distribution and uptake of COVID-19 vaccination particularly among the vulnerable and marginalized population in Mizoram, Mission Foundation Movement was sub-awarded the project by JSI on February, 2022 to be one among the 24 identified sub-awardee spread across various states in India.
Mission Foundation Movement covers the following area-
1) Kolasib District: Thingdawl RD Block, Bilkhawthlir RD Block
2) Mamit District: Zawlnuam RD Block, West Phaileng RD Block, Reiek RD Block
3) Lunglei District: Lunglei RD Block, Lungsen RD Block, Hnahthial RD Block, Bunghmun RD Block
The organization successfully implemented the government special campaign such as Har Ghar Dastak 2.0 and Amrit Mahotsav. In extension, to leverage the vaccine coverage, Har Office Dastak and Har School Dastak were also implemented.
To increase COVID-19 Vaccination awareness among the community, door-door mobilization, community involvement recreational activities such as folklore, football tournament, wall paintings and animated video awareness were circulated in local languages.
To vaccinate the hard-to-reach areas, mobile express are engaged in the entire district. Vulnerable population such as Bru, Chakma and refugees were vaccinated through this mobile express. Through this project, more than 15,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were already administered.
