Employment through Skill Training & Placement (EST&P) Component, funded by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), is strategically crafted to address the skill development needs of the unskilled urban poor while also enhancing the skills of those with existing capabilities. The primary objective of this program is twofold: to equip the urban poor with essential skills for self-employment ventures and to enhance their prospects for salaried positions in the private sector.
This initiative recognizes the importance of bridging the gap between the demand and availability of local skills in the urban landscape. The EST&P Programme is designed to offer skill training programs that are tailored to meet the specific requirements of the market. By doing so, it aims to create a skilled workforce that aligns with the demands of the contemporary job market, thereby enhancing employability and opening up avenues for self-employment.
In essence, the EST&P Component plays a pivotal role in empowering the urban poor by providing them with the necessary skills to not only secure salaried employment but also to establish and manage their own ventures. This multi-faceted approach contributes to the overall socio-economic development of urban communities, addressing both unemployment and underemployment challenges.
With three affiliated and accredited Training Centers in Serchhip, Lunglei, and Aizawl, our focus is on offering specialized training in Job Roles such as Baking Technician and General Duty Assistant. These centers serve as hubs for skill development and education, contributing to the broader objectives of empowering individuals and fostering economic growth.
The broader objective of the Employment through Skills Training & Placement (EST&P) Programme is –
• To provide an asset to the urban poor in the form of skills for sustainable livelihood.
• To increase the income of urban poor through structured, market-oriented certified courses that can provide salaried employment and / or self-employment opportunities which will eventually lead to better living standards and alleviation of urban poverty on a sustainable basis
• To ensure inclusive growth with increased contribution of skilled urban poor to the National Economy.
