GBV-SOLVE PROJECT: GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE AWARENESS SESSION FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN CHURCHES
News | June 14, 2026
As part of GBV-Solve Project, Mission Foundation Movement (MFM) has been conducting Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness sessions for children and youth in churches across different denominations within Aizawl.
In Mizo society, Church plays a vital role in shaping values, attitudes, and behaviors among young people. Beyond being a place of worship, churches serve as important spaces for guidance, mentorship, and community building. Recognizing this influence, GBV-Solve Project actively partners with churches to promote awareness and foster a culture of safety, respect, and equality from an early age.
The awareness sessions are designed to help children and youth understand the meaning and forms of gender-based violence, recognize inappropriate and harmful behaviors, and learn the importance of respecting boundaries and treating others with dignity. Participants are also encouraged to speak up, seek support from trusted adults, and contribute to creating safe environments within their families, schools, churches, and communities.
Through interactive discussions and age-appropriate activities, the sessions provide opportunities for young people to openly engage with issues related to safety, protection, and healthy relationships.
By strengthening the role of churches as partners in prevention,GBV-Solve Project seeks to empower the next generation to become advocates for positive change and contribute to building communities that are free from violence, discrimination, and abuse.
Mission Foundation Movement remains committed to working closely with churches, communities, and other stakeholders to protect children and young people and promote a future grounded in respect, compassion, and equality.
