The Regional Resource Training Centre (RRTC) for Senior Citizens, under MFM, organized a “Dementia Care and Management” programme for senior citizens at the Bethlehem Venglai Presbyterian Church Hall, Bethlehem Vengthlang, Aizawl. The programme was attended by MUP members from Bethlehem Area, College Veng, and ITI, with Pu C. Lalsawivunga, Hon’ble Minister, Art & Culture Department, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.
After the opening prayer led by Upa B. Lalhmunliana of Bethlehem Venglai, MFM Director Pu R. Vanlalzauva delivered the welcome address and presented a brief report on the activities undertaken by RRTC for senior citizens.
In his address, the Chief Guest encouraged the gathering to take good care of their physical health and appreciated MFM for organizing such a meaningful and beneficial programme. He emphasized the importance of cleanliness for maintaining good health. He also stated that when facing difficulties, one should not deal with them alone but should communicate openly with family members, and that such challenges should not be a cause for embarrassment. He noted that more advanced societies value and care deeply for their elderly, and added that the Mizo community too is steadily progressing in caring for and supporting senior citizens. He further appreciated MFM for consistently dedicating time and effort to the welfare of the elderly, which contributes greatly to healthy living.
Following this, HVL Awmpuii, Tutor at MFM School of Nursing, spoke on important aspects of health and wellness. This was followed by C. Lalremsiama of MFM School of Nursing, who conducted a session on communication skills for the participants and also demonstrated practical exercises that could be continued regularly at home.
During the programme, Pi Lalchhuanmawii, Principal of Laithangpuii College of Pharmacy, and Pu Nghaklianmawia, President of MUP, delivered brief speeches. The vote of thanks was proposed by Pi Irene Lalruatdiki from MFM. All participants were provided with TA (travel allowance) and small gift.
