District Level Workshop on Elderly Issues

RRTC for Senior Citizens organized “District Level Workshop on Elderly Issues” at Bawngkawn South YMA Hall on 10th April, 2025 with Health Minister Pi Lalrinpuii as the Chief Guest. A total of 650 Mizo Upa Pawl (MUP) Members from Aizawl attended the workshop.

Lalramchuanzela, Executive Director of MFM, delivered a speech highlighting the various initiatives being implemented under the RRTC. The chief guest also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the value and significance of the elderly in society. She noted that younger generations are becoming increasingly appreciative of senior citizens. Additionally, she shared that the new state government has raised the pension for senior citizens in Mizoram and announced plans to establish new Old Age Homes in every district in the near future.

K. Lalbiakzuala, a fitness trainer, conducted a cardio exercise demonstration for the audience and shared valuable health tips. Pi Lalremruati, Assistant Professor at Aizawl Law College, delivered a lecture on the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 (MWPSC Act, 2007), which was followed by an interactive Q&A session. Additionally, Pu John Vanlalruata Sailo, Sub-Inspector of the Cyber Crime Unit, presented a talk on “Cyber Crime & Fraud,” offering guidance on how senior citizens can protect themselves from such threats.
